Winter Bonding: A Journey of Ice and Snow Team Building in Harbin and Changbai Mountain

2024-09-27

Winter always holds a magical sense of anticipation, and this year's company team-building event unfolded against a backdrop of silver-clad landscapes. When we set off for Harbin, no one expected the journey to bring us so many surprises and moments of joy.

Upon arriving in Harbin, a piercing chill greeted us. Colleagues from southern regions gasped at the cold, yet this only fueled their excitement as they exclaimed, “So this is what real winter feels like!” Central Street was blanketed in snow, with European-style architecture standing quietly as if we had stepped into a serene winter painting. As we strolled along the street, capturing memories with our cameras, a bite of Ma Dieer ice cream suddenly made the cold feel sweet.

The Ice and Snow World at night left everyone in awe. When the lights illuminated the ice sculptures, the entire park transformed into a dazzling crystal palace. We queued up for the super-long ice slide, and the moment we slid down from the top, the wind whistled past our ears, blending our screams and laughter into the happiest soundtrack of the winter night. In the ice sculpture maze, we guided each other, occasionally leading teammates astray for fun. The panic of being lost and the triumph of finding the way brought us closer in an instant.

From the “Ice City,” our journey continued to the majestic and mysterious Changbai Mountain. The scenery along the way resembled an expansive ink-wash scroll, with layered pine forests, snowfields, and misty horizons. The world outside the window was so tranquil that we couldn’t bear to look away.

As we climbed Changbai Mountain, the snow-covered paths forced us to slow our pace. Yet, every helping hand extended and every word of caution like “Slow down, watch your step” warmed our hearts. When we finally reached the summit, Tianchi Lake lay quietly amid the snow and wind. Though frozen, its majestic beauty made all the exhaustion vanish in an instant.

Back at the foot of the mountain, we reverted to our childhood selves, engaging in a spirited snowball fight. The moment snowballs flew from our hands, everyone laughed as if they were ten years younger—a reminder of how simple joy can be.

The final stop of our journey was Bear Valley. The animals here were delightfully clumsy, particularly a few lazy bears whose every move elicited bursts of laughter. As colleagues imitated the bears’ gestures and vied for photos, the trip gained an extra layer of childlike fun and innocence.

Though the three-day journey was short, it allowed us to not only experience the wonders of northern China but also to bond more deeply and trust one another more fully. From the brilliance of Harbin to the grandeur of Changbai Mountain and the lighthearted joy of Bear Valley, we learned to support each other along the way and grew closer through shared laughter. Winter may be cold, but it holds a unique warmth. It encouraged us to pause, appreciate the scenery with our colleagues, share our feelings, and cherish the moments that moved us. Energized by this journey, we will face new challenges with a more united spirit and look forward to the next adventure together.
